Zurich is the new destination for this winter

Faro Airport opened a new direct route to Zurich today, operated by airberlin.

The new route plays a vital role in improving connectivity between the Algarve and one of the most important cities in Europe, with a widely-used hub airport.

To mark the occasion, the President of the Algarve Tourism Board, Desidério Silva, the President of the Algarve Tourism Association, Carlos Luis and Faro airport manager, Alberto Mota Borges, were there to welcome passengers on arrival and to see them off on departure.

For Faro Airport, this new scheduled route, operated by airberlin through 25 March, 2016, with an A320 (180 seats), represents a total increase (arrivals + departures) of over 15.840 seats and 88 movements. The airline is clearly interested in the Algarve as a winter tourist destination.

For airberlin “ Our very first flight from Zurich to Faro in April was booked out, and this positive trend continues: Swiss travelers also want to fly to the Algarve with airberlin. We have introduced a new winter service from Switzerland to Portugal, and have increased the frequency to two flights per week”, said Lucas Ochsner, Managing Director of airberlin in Switzerland.
