​Easyjet reinforces Madeira operation with new routes to Edinburgh and Manchester

As of February 3rd, Easyjet flies from Edinburgh to Madeira twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Madeira Airport is once again connected to Scotland, a route which had been suspended since 2009 when FlyGlobespan went bankrupt.

Starting on February 14th, Easyjet will also start flying to Manchester twice a week on Mondays and Saturdays.

The low cost airline has been flying to Madeira since 2007, and currently has two daily flights to Lisbon, six weekly flights to London Gatwick and three to Bristol.

The new routes have the potential to represent a 32 thousand passenger increase in annual disembarked passenger.

In 2014 , Easyjet carried over 348 thousand passengers on its direct routes to and from Madeira, ranking second in terms of Airlines for this airport, with a 14% market share.

The United Kingdom is the second largest issuing market for Madeira, with a 19% market share. In 2014, 470 thousand passengers flew in from the United Kingdom, which is 6.6% more than during the previous year.

Passengers on the first flight from Edinburgh were welcomed to Madeira Airport with flowers and wine.

Starting April 1st, flights to Edinburgh will be on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
