Champions League final skyrockets traffic at Lisbon airport

The Champions League final, which will be played this Saturday at Estádio da Luz, has had quite an impact on Lisbon and other national airports.

So far, we have over 280 private and 50 charter flights scheduled in 330 plus overall movements, 75% more than on an average Spring Saturday.

Only 80 aircraft (20 charter planes) will be parked in Lisbon, as the airport is full to capacity on May 23, 24 and 25. Therefore, Beja will be receiving 15 to 20 planes, Porto about 60 and Faro 35.

Most aircraft will land between late Friday afternoon and early Saturday morning. Over 7500 charter passengers and 2800 private flight passengers will be passing through Lisbon which represents a 20% increase compared to the season’s norm.

Lisbon airport has been working with UEFA and other entities involved in airport operations to organize this event since November of last year.
