On the occasion of the second ACI EUROPE summit on the sustainability of aviation and as part of the airport sector's joint commitment currently subscribed to by 235 European airports, the airports managed by ANA, following VINCI Airports’ steps throughout its network, reaffirm their goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050, reaffirmed their goal of achieving net zero emissions, following up on their decarbonisation actions.

VINCI Airports was the first airport operator to commit to an international environmental strategy in 2015 and has submitted 100% of its platforms to the voluntary Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) programme of the Airports Council International, the only international greenhouse gas emission reduction programme specific to airports. Whilst multiplying its actions to be exemplary in reducing its own CO2 emissions and to contribute to reducing air transport emissions, which represented 2.8% of global emissions in 2019, VINCI Airports is thus deploying concrete and immediate solutions that limit the impact of airports, which have already reduced the network's carbon footprint by 22% between 2018 and 2020.

The next goal is to achieve carbon neutrality for all airports by 2030, followed by "zero net emissions" by continuing decarbonization actions and absorbing residual emissions through forest carbon sinks.

At the same time, ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal is committed to reduce its carbon footprint by 50% by 2030 and to reach carbon neutrality (net zero) in 2050, and all ANA airports have been accredited by the ACI Europe Airport Carbon Accreditation programme since 2010.

The ACI Europe’s ACA is a global programme aimed at carbon management in airports, which assesses and recognises the efforts made in monitoring and reducing CO₂ emissions through six certification levels: Mapping, Reduction, Optimisation, Neutrality, Transformation and Transition. Current, ANA airports have Level 2 accreditation (reduction).
